The Muse is a perfect go-to for any occasion. Express your creativity and change her up and down depending on the fabric used. Here we show prairie feel using 1970s vintage linen patched together.

We have also wiped her up in velvet and added a frill for a completely different look! This dress spans most body shapes and generations… Timeless.

We have included an elbow-length frill and hem frill if you note on the velvet one we have embellished using a pleated ribbon trim. The sleeve head is a small puff.

Where will the inspiration she creates take you? Will you amp up her 1970s style with 70s print fabrics, make her hard-wearing in denim or cool and effortless in linen or simple cotton? If the mood takes, take her dancing in velvet or to a gallery opening in brocade.

And why not make her floor-length?

The PDF download product includes A4, Letter & A0 sizes.

I love the dress but unfortunately real life has stepped in and I haven’t had a chance to put the pattern together, never mind start sewing. I’m so looking forward to this project

Muse & audrey

I needed a pattern to make my mother of the bride outfit for my daughter's wedding which was on 17th July. After spending many many months searching for a pattern I kept coming back to sewladidavintage. I had previously made the sweetheart dress which my daughter made me enter a competition and it did get through to the final. This pattern was just so enjoyable. So I decided to make the muse for a dress for Christmas as my 'toile'. I loved it, but it needed tweaking and I was struggling to amend the skirt, as I'm a bigger size on top to below. I think I'm a bit of a rectangle! I decided to contact Caroline. Caroline you are amazing!! We had such a lovely chat, we were on the phone for ages! I told Caroline about the vision in my head, we talked it through and she helped me to work out that I could combine the top of the muse, the skirt of the audrey dress, and the sleeves of the margo add on. I wanted a longer skirt, to hide the bruises on my legs (I have NO spacial awareness!) And I wanted to create the feeling that I was taller than I actually am, so wanted a third/two third silhouette. I was worried it wouldn't work, and I was thinking what if I make it and it doesn't fit or I dont like it! Caroline gave me so much help and confidence. She showed me how to work out and adjust the pattern so it would fit my shape. It wasn't just a grade between size issue. She also taught me that I can be confident enough to choose myself what I think will suit and fit me best. I've never made anything this important. I used silk dupion and a corded lace overlay, which I have not done before. The final 'look' of the dress changed, as originally I was only putting lace overlay on the top with just lace sleeves, and a silk skirt with a border of lace. But the lace looked so nice I decided to do all lace and I'm so glad I did. I lengthened the skirt and put a split up the back so I could move!!! This was a labour of love. I thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of it. Caroline's patterns all went together so well, I just had to do a dart tweak on the skirt to match the princess seam on the top. These patterns are a dream and I love them xx Caroline has been such an inspiration and given me so much courage to have a go and do what I think. This dress has boosted my sewing confidence enormously and I am so grateful to Caroline for your enthusiasm and encouragement. The dress turned out better than the vision in my head, and I felt like I had known you forever! I've just been told my dress was 'incredible' and 'stunning' and I'm so so proud. Thankyou so much 💓💖
